Leeds is the largest city in Yorkshire and is located in the West. It has a rich history dating back over a thousand years.

The name 'Leeds' is believed to have come from the Old English term "Loidis" or "Ledes", whcih is referred to a forested area along the River Aire. 

 

Leeds gradually grew, between the 5th and 15th century, as a merket town due to its strategic location for commerce and trade. 

 

Leeds also experienced significant growth during the Industrial Revolution (18th - 19th Century). During this time, industries like textiles, engineering, and printing thrived, and Leeds played a crucial role in the production of wool and cloth. 

 

Leeds faced challenges with the decline of traditional manufacturing industries. However, it has transitioned. Today, it is a thriving hub for finance, higher education, and legal services. 

 

In recent decades, Leeds has continued to grow economically and demographically. It's greatly known for its diverse population, dynamic business environment, and lively arts scene.
