All tours are to be treated as outlines only, depending on the interests of the group, weather, road closures, etc., changes can be made. I always make sure that any variation is only in the interests of the group having the very best possible time.
Also note that frequent restroom stops are built into the itinerary.
This tour allows you to see the places and landscapes of West Yorkshire
This tour allows you to see the places and landscapes of West Yorkshire that not only formed the
backdrop to the English language’s most famous literary family, The Brontës, but also provided
the sisters with many of the settings and inspirations that would feature in works such as
Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre.
Not only will you have the opportunity to experience places directly & profoundly connected with
the Brontës’ lives, but we will also visit sights connected with the early industrial revolution,
providing important context to the literary works of the Brontë sisters.
The day will typically start in York at 9.00am, although we are happy to collect you from other nearby towns and cities such as Leeds or Harrogate
We will then make our way to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and the Aire Valley; from here we will progress through to the village of Haworth.
In Haworth you may visit the interior of the intimate and ghostly Brontë Parsonage, where the Brontë family lived. Afterwards you will have time to explore Haworth and get a bite to eat.
*Please note opening times of the Brontë Parsonage before booking to avoid disappointment. Tickets to the Brontë Parsonage should be booked separately prior to the tour. If you do not wish to see the interior of the parsonage, you will still be able to explore the grounds of the estate free of charge.
From Haworth we will explore the rugged landscapes of Penistone Country Park
From Haworth we will explore the rugged landscapes of Penistone Country Park, which also provided great inspiration to Emily and Charlotte in particular. After this we will make our way over
to the Yorkshire Dales National Park where we will have an opportunity to see some of the finest and most bucolic landscapes in England.
This tour is not only suitable for Brontë fans—there are many interesting sights and gorgeous views of the West Yorkshire countryside which appeal to everyone!
Our tours are always private and you will be looked after throughout the day with water and complimentary snacks.
All our tours use the Mercedes Benz V class vehicle, which is extremely well suited to touring with its ample leg room, high seating position and large windows. The tour ends by around 6.00pm and your guide is happy to deliver your group either to the front door of your accommodation/preferred restaurant, etc. (within reason).
